Students from the Primary school,”Mehemedalija Mak Dizdar‟ visited the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina

    20.12.2019.

(Sarajevo, December 20, 2019)- Twenty students of the primary school ,,Mehmedalija Mak Dizdar‟ in Sarajevo visited today the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina within the project  "Building an Effective and Citizen-friendly judiciary" funded by the European Union and implemented by the High judicial and prosecutorial council BiH (HJPC).

The visit was organised to familiarise the students with the work of judges, prosecutors, expert associates and other professions as well as to enable them to experience what is it like to work with such an institution.

During the visit, the representatives of the legal, judicial administration, witness support and public relation departments explained to the students the composition and the jurisdiction of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They demonstrated also certain courtroom situations from the Court hearings and outlined the roles of all participants in the court proceedings.

On this occasion, the students received also a booklet „Why is justice important″, in order to get acquainted with all professions in court proceedings, and transfer the acquired knowledge to their peers at school.

Emphasizing the importance of continuous support European Union to the reform of judiciary as well as the needs to talk to students about justice and the justice system in BiH, HJPC will organise more visits of primary schools to the courts in BiH in 2020.
